No other city is as defined by its transport system as London, with its red buses, black cabs and Tube trains instantly recognised the world over.
Every day around 24 million journeys are made across our network. Every journey matters to us and we do all we can to keep the city moving, making sure theĀ transport network is safe, reliable and fit for the future.
We manage London’s buses, the Tube network, Docklands Light Railway, Overground and Tramlink. We also run Barclays Cycle Hire, London River Services, Victoria Coach Station, the Emirates Air Line and London Transport Museum.
As well as controlling a 580km network of main roads and the city’s 6,000 traffic lights, we regulate London’s taxis and private hire vehicles and the Congestion Charge scheme.
To make sure our customers’ journeys run as smoothly as possible, we invest in the latest technology so that it’s easier for to plan and make journeys. And we make all of our travel data freely available to other organisations, so they can create apps and maps as well.
All our income is reinvested to run and improve services. This allows us to upgrade stations and bring in new trains, tubes and buses to continually improve capacity and reliability. We are making the biggest investment in a generation to improve roads and streets for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
